South Whidbey Parks and Recreation District is pleased to announce the acquisition of a thirty acre parcel adjacent to Community Park and South Whidbey High School. The property was purchased at a price of $390,000 and the closing occurred on October 30, 2015.
Based on input received from local citizens and stakeholder groups, District staff is currently developing a campground on a portion of the property. Additionally, the District will be applying for Acquisition & Development grants through the Washington Wildlife & Recreation Program grants process.
The Park District issued an RFP for a public design process and awarded the agreement to J. A. Brennan Associates, Landscape Architects. What will follow is a process of design which engages the community to get feedback on what you would like to see on this site.
Your opinion matters to us so we are offering multiple ways to get your ideas to us. Stakeholder meetings and open public meetings are coming soon (watch this space for more information).
Thank you in advance for your ideas and input!!
The South Whidbey Parks & Aquatics Foundation has established a Property Development Fund to accept tax deductible donations toward property development. To donate to the Property Development Fund, click here.
Any questions regarding the agreement or requests for additional information should be referred to Doug Coutts, Director, at email@example.com.
