Spring Golf 

Bob Brown and Malcolm Ferrier will run this four-session golf program for new golfers, those wanting to tidy up their skills, and those returning to the game.  Includes three sessions on the power swing and on the short game, plus a make-up session as needed.

National Learn to Row Day

Island Rowing Association will host this Learn-to Row class, an introduction to the sport of rowing.  There will be off-the-water instruction, teaching basic rowing technique, individual coaching on a rowing machine, then you will be rowing in a four-person rowing shell on Holmes Harbor.  Rowing is a great form of exercise and a wonderful outdoor activity.  Participants must be able to swim.  To register or for questions, visit www.islandrowing.org.

GPS 201

Join an REI expert for this how-to, hands-on class that literally walks you through the basics and advanced functions of your GPS.  Beginners are welcome, though an understanding of the basic functions of your GPS unit is recommended.  GPS units will be available upon request if need be, just notify us at time of registration.  You can buy a $20 REI lifetime membership over the phone or online to receive the member rate.

Dodgeball Leagues

Play the game as it was meant to be played - with you as the target!  Our six-on-six dodgeball league is perfect for the off-season athlete.  Whether you are just starting to play and learn the game of looking to go out and have fun, this is the game for you.

We use special foam "gator" balls that are specially designed for speed and accuracy and minimal risk of injury.  Each team will play seven matches (each match consists of 3-5 games) over seven weeks.  Each player will receive a team jersey with their team name.  Games will take place at the Sports Complex on Langley Road.  For general information about dodgeball rules, check out the National Amateur Dodgeball Association.

"Team Managers" are needed to make this program a success.  team managers must apply by registration deadline.  Team manager (or team manager's child) will play for discounted fee of $20.  Contact Carrie at 221-5484 or programs@whidbey.com.

Special Olympics Tennis

Join us as we introduce the Special Olympics athlete to the exciting sport of tennis!  We will start with Skills Training to get you familiar with your equipment and the tennis court.  Each class will include warm-ups, movement drills and cooperative games to encourage fun, friendships and sportsmanship.  The focus of Skills Training is determining what our athletes can do with appropriate instruction and encouragement.  All equipment will be provided.  All athletes must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.
About your instructor:  Tracie Mitchem is a USPTA/PTR certified teaching professional for the sport of tennis.  Serving as a National Trainer for the USTA, she was selected and trained by Special Olympics North America to become the Volunteer Director and Trainer for tennis in the Pacific Northwest.

Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome to be a part of a group that has a great passion for running!  Get some teaching lessons or just some time to run.  Held at the South Whidbey High School track, we encourage you to come out and run!
