50+ to get reacquainted or newly acquainted with
tennis.

friends and enjoy the health benefits of tennis through gentle
exercises, games, and skill building. Join us for tennis
practice and social mixers geared toward the 50+ player.

General Information
Tennis Director
This summer’s tennis director is Teresa Wheeler. She ran South
Whidbey Summer Tennis Camps from 1990-1995. She is a former
University of Texas tennis team member and currently works at
the South Whidbey Primary School. She is excited about offering
a variety of programs for ages 5 to adult. To contact Teresa,

WBTT Workouts
This is an instructional program designed to teach/review the
fundamentals of tennis through drills and games.
Date: Wed, Jul 12-Aug 9
Time: 7-8pm
Age: 50+

Doubles Play
This class will be geared toward learning and playing doubles.
The first half of the class will be working on skills and the
second half will be playing doubles.
Date: Sat, Jul 15-Aug 12 Time: 9-10am
Age: 50+
Location: South whidbey High School
Fee: $50
Create a Class Option: Put together your own group of 4-6
players. It could even be your family! Date and time to be
arranged with instructor. Fee: $40-60 per class hour.

What to bring
Tennis racquet (loaners available) and water
bottle. Participants must wear appropriate tennis shoes (no
sandals or flip flops).
Inclement weather
Make-up days will be Thursday and Friday, at the instructor’s
discretion. Call 21-5484 after 8am if uncertain about the
meeting of a class.

Annual SWAT Tennis Doubles Tournament
Saturday, August 26th
(Some What AWESOME Tennis)
This will be
a full day of Team Tennis Doubles matches,
BBQ, Trophies and Prizes! This year you will have the
opportunity to choose between the SWAT Elite Challenge (for 3.5
+ players) or play in the SWAT Social Challenge (for 3.5 and
below) If you are a low 3.5 player, you have the choice of
strong competition or social fun. Match play will consist of
rounds that include men/womens doubles and mixed doubles. You
may enter as a mixed team (Elite Challenge Only), or we will
place you with a partner. SWAT is sponsored by the Useless Bay
Country Club and South Whidbey Parks and Recreation. Matches
will be played at various locations, including the SW High
School and Useless Bay CC tennis courts. Playing in this
tournament is a great way to meet other players and play tennis
right here on our beautiful Island. This tournament is open to
the public. Entry forms will be available in June. Entry
deadline is August 21. Tournament is open to ages 16 & up.
